Permanent damage to the nerves that supply muscles and create movement on the face is uncommon. It is dependent, however, upon the type of lift that a surgeon performs.

It is always best to discuss this with your surgeon and get their particular experience. A blepharoplasty doesn't increase the risk of a facelift, but it does carry it's own set of risks, also best discussed in person with your surgeon.

Although I have never seen a lip lift affect the movement or function of the lip, it sounds as though a different technique was used than what I personally use.

My technique does not involve muscle and so should not affect movement. A revision might very well improve the appearance of your lip by repositioning it, I am not certain if it would improve function – but it might.

Please come see me for a consultation and let’s see what can be done.

What is the incidence of nerve damage following a full face lift? Is it higher if you have a blepharoplasty with it?

Hello,

I had a liplift that created many complications. The surgeon not only removed skin, but he also removed some of the OO muscle and then sutured the tissue to the piriform aperture. So now I cannot lift the center portion of my upper lip. I cannot use a straw, I cannot whistle and I cannot use my upper lip to remove certain foods off of a spoon. Basically I am unable to pucker my lips. This has affected my speech as well. My lip has lengthened and now hangs over my upper teeth and constantly hits my lower lip.

Do you think it is possible to get a revision liplift and a lip reduction? Never did I think that a liplift would leave me with so many functional and obviously cosmetic complications. As you can imagine, this has completely altered my life.

LaTrelya,

The Mommy Makeovers are individualized to your needs. Since most women have stretching of tummy and breast during pregnancy, most of the packages deal with surgery in those areas. The tummy is usually a tummy tuck, liposuction or both and the breast may be augmentation, lift, or for some mothers a reduction.

Feel free to schedule a consultation to find out about what we have for your individual desires.

I have heard that you all offer a "mommy make over" package. Is this true and what are the details if so?

I am a 35 year old male - I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis 6 years ago (it is now completely dormant and I am completely healthy otherwise). I have been thinking about getting a chin implant - I am cursed with the Irish lack of a chin and have grown a beard to cope.

Does having Sarcoidosis preclude me from being able to get any form of cosmetic augmentation?

John,

You have many great questions and the best thing to do is meet with physician you are considering for the resurfacing and get answers specific to yourself from them.

A couple of general points is that most patients that have had significant laser resurfacing have skin that is more sensitive to burning with sun exposure after the laser. Think sunburn on top of laser burn. Also, a sunscreen before going out any time of day is probably a good routine to get in.
